Bio

I obtained my M.D. degree from National Taiwan University, was trained as a pediatrician and infectious disease specialist at National Taiwan University Hospital, and completed U.S. CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service with the Immunization Safety Office. During 2006–2020, I worked at Taiwan Centers for Disease Control, the country’s responsible Agency that operates the National Immunization Program, primarily on applying large observational data to inform the use of vaccines, and was engaged broadly in disease surveillance, field epidemiology, and public health responses. My research also focuses on long-term health impacts of other prevalent and complex childhood exposures, such as diets, infections, and medications.

I have been actively involved in several multi-country collaborative vaccine safety projects, both in resource-poor and -rich study settings. I was a member of the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) Board of Directors (2012–2018) and Vaccines Special Interest Group (Chair, 2019–2020). Currently, I serve on the Brighton Collaboration Science Board, supporting harmonized safety assessment of new vaccines against priority pathogens in the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) Safety Platform for Emergency vACcines (SPEAC) and active safety surveillance in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) in the U.S. CDC Safety Surveillance of CoVID-19 Vaccine Implementation Program (CareSafe).
