Montse is a physician, preventive medicine specialist and epidemiologist with more than 30 years of experience in infectious and chronic diseases, general practice, public health, global health, epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology and health policy.
After completing her medical studies in Barcelona, Spain and postgraduate studies in Tropical Medicine (Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp, Belgium) and Masters of Science in Infection and Health in the Tropics (LSHTM, London, UK), Montse initiated her career in Spain and a number of African countries as clinician and epidemiologist.
In 1998 Montse joined the 2-years Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, USA, where she continued to work until 2005 with a key focus on respiratory infectious diseases epidemiology and vaccine evaluation. During this time she gained her specialty in Preventive Medicine and Public Health.
Between 2005 and 2025 Montse worked in the pharmaceutical industry (GSK Biologicals and Bayer AG) leading epidemiology teams and driving external partnerships and policy initiatives enhancing the use and acceptance of epidemiological data sources and methods for vaccine and drug development and post approval research. She is currently based in Potsdam, Germany.
At ISPE, Montse has taken on a number of roles over the years including being a member of the Board of Directors for 2 consecutive mandates, co-chair of ISPE's RWE Task Force COVID-19 subteam, chair of ISPE's RWE Collaborative SIG, member of other SIGs and awards committee, mentor etc.
